Marguerite Hambelton Roll, 92

Graveside services for Clelia “Marguerite” Hambelton Roll, 92, of Dora, were held Dec. 1, 2020, at the Patrick Cemetery in the Luna community northeast of Gainesville. Due to the covid concerns, the family asks that those attending wear a mask. Mrs. Roll died Nov. 28, at Brooke Haven Healthcare in West Plains.

She was born Oct. 5, 1928 in Luna, the daughter of Roy and Agnes Patrick Hambelton. She worked for and retired from Baxter Healthcare in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  

From her marriage to Richard Cotter, there were four children:  Ernie, Margaret, Pete and Debbie.

Later, she married Ken Roll.

Mrs. Roll was very active and loved fishing, working in her garden, taking care of her chickens and hosting family gatherings where she was famous for her enchiladas and chicken and dumplings. She was a Christian and attended the Ball Church of Christ for many years. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by three children, Ernie Cotter of Ash Grove, Richard “Pete” Cotter and wife Deb of West Plains, and Debbie Warren of Dora; a son-in-law, Randy Watkins of Dora; nine grandchildren: Eric, Ernie, Laura, Sam, Mark, Josh, Jacob, Michael and Misty; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lura Hambelton of Gainesville; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brothers, Hugo Hambelton, Bill Hambelton and wife Fern, and Ted Hambelton and wife Lessie; a sister, Aletta Hathcock and husband Don; her daughter, Margaret Watkins; one nephew, Randall Watkins; daughter-in-law Joan Cotter and son-in-law Jack Warren; and her niece Janice Hambelton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home of Strafford or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and may be left at or mailed to Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 65, Gainesville, MO 65655.
