Michael Patrick Scarff, 65

A small funeral service for Michael Patrick Scarff, 65, of Protem, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the Protem Community Church with a celebration of life following at 5 p.m. at the Lazy Acres Volunteer Fire Department, 254 Main Ave. in Protem. Mr. Scarff died July 2 at his home after a long battle with cancer. 

He was born June 14, 1955, in Salsburg, Austria, the son of Raymond and Lois Burke Scarff. He graduated from Junction City (Kansas) High School and later retired from Anchor Glass in Gurnee, Illi-nois. He then operated his own business, Done Right Heating and Air, for 21 years.

He was a member of the Protem Community Church and held strong to his faith until the very end. He enjoyed many activities in life, including boating, traveling and working. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and his beloved dog, Sheba. He will be forever remembered for his witty sense of humor and his kindness. 

He is survived by Lydia “Pam” Scarff, his wife of 48 years; two children, Michael Ray Scarff and wife Michele of Protem, and Jennifer Myra of Trevor, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Mikey, Krista, Madelyn and Brandon; five great-grandchildren; his brother Dennis Scarff and wife Wanda of Olathe, Kansas; brother-in-law Scott Richardson and wife Amber of Platteville, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Cornelia Richardson and husband John of Rewey, Wisconsin; 18 nieces and nephews; 27 great-nieces and great-nephews; and six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Patricia; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Francis and Wilda Richardson; two sisters-in-law, Francis and Margarete; and many aunts and uncles.
