Richard Leland Lowman, 81

Funeral services for Richard Leland Lowman, 81, of Theodosia, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral Home. Mr. Lowman died Aug. 24 at his home.

He was born May 25, 1939, in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of Leland and Marie Cronin Lowman.

He was veteran who proudly served his country as a Marine Corps helicopter mechanic. Later, he worked for many years as a coal miner. 

In 1989, he married Carol Harrison; they moved to Theodosia nearly 30 years ago. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol Lowman of Theodosia; his children, Lisa Fink and husband Lindsey of Petersburg, Illinois, Tammy Lowman of California, Lori Hull and husband Brad of Mason City, Illinois, and Kelli Rusk and husband Brent of Branson; his grandchildren, Brock Fink and wife Meghan, Seth Fink and wife Marlea, Chance Fink and wife Chrissy, Neil Embry, Kelci Kennett and husband Zeke, Bradley Hull, Mason Broyles, Gunner Broyles and Jase Broyles; great-grandchildren Rowynn Fink, Bowden Fink, Josie Fink, Boone Fink, Quinn Fink, Rhett Kennett and Beau Kennett; one brother, Charles Lowman, and one sister, Rita Vaughan, both of Mason City, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom Lowman; and one daughter, Joanna Embry.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Longrun Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
