Velton ‘Hal’ Wynn, 70

Velton “Hal” Wynn of Gainesville, died of natural causes on Nov. 16, 2020, his 70th birthday, at the Hospice House in Mountain Home.

Mr. Wynn was born Nov. 16, 1950, near Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Lewis and Rosa Wynn. He grew up Seventh Day Adventist, as his father was a pastor. He shared his early life with two sisters, who say the one thing he always wanted to be was a father. He was a great one.

Mr. Wynn was known for his gentle, humble and kind nature, his playful sense of humor, his love for God, his family, his cat and his fondness for old rock and roll.

He worked as an x-ray technician for 40 years, from California to Florida. During that time he married twice and fathered five children who meant the world to him.

Mr. Wynn loved nature, hiking, swimming, collecting rocks and most of all, lend a helping hand.  He spent the last 10 years in Gainesville to be near his children.

His dream was to build a cabin on his property in the country with all of his children. His family will gather there for a private memorial service at a later date.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Dusty Wynn of San Diego, California, Tami Wynn of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jimmy Wynn and wife Liz of Gainesville, and Lindsay Wilson of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; his grandchildren, Rylen Wynn, Malachi Small, Jonah Small, Maddox Wynn, Sam Wynn, Brody Alger and Braden Alger; a great-grandchild, Everett Wynn; his sisters, Marsha Dunham and Lucretia Hoch of Arizona; and many nephews and nieces who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Darren Wynn. To view and post on Mr. Wynn’s online memorial, visit clinkingbeardfuneralhome.com.
