Ozark County students head to summer school

<p class="p1">Summer school has started – or will start soon – for many Ozark County youngsters. </p><p class="p3"><strong>Bakersfield</strong>: Summer school classes will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, May 31, and continuing through Thursday, June 22. Field trips are planned for each Friday and the last Thursday. Bakersfield summer school is open to all students entering kindergarten through seventh grade regardless of which school district they live in. Three of the four weeks of summer school have classes four days a week. The week of June 5 is a five-day week. Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The schedule includes three “pool days” at a public swimming pool in West Plains, a movie day is scheduled for Glass Sword Theater in West Plains and a trip to Silver Dollar City will be offered to students who miss no more than two days of classes. Breakfast and lunch are served free of charge, and summer school is open to all students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Classes are held from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. For more information, call 417-679-4416.</p><p class="p3"><strong>Lutie</strong>: Summer school for elementary students will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 30 -June 23. Breakfast is served from 7:45 to 8 a.m.; lunch is served 11:30 a.m. to noon. Meals are free for students under 18 and also for eligible disabled adults.
