Barney Alvin Head, 65

Funeral services for Barney Alvin Head, 65, of Gainesville, were held Oct. 12, 2019, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Jimmy Kyle officiating. Mr. Head died Oct. 9 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield with his daughter, Kiya Head Grisham, by his side. 

He was born Dec. 4, 1953, in Gassville, Arkansas, the son of Bob and Ola Belle Ellison Head. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1972 and then became a construction worker. He loved operating a crane and enjoyed life on the road.

Mr. Head was known as a people person who never met a stranger. Family and friends knew him as ornery, funny and always full of life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family, friends and his dog, Skillet. 

He was a heroic father to his daughter, Kiya Belle Grisham, and her husband, Wyatt. 

He was also a gifted storyteller and was even more gifted at making stories to tell. He left those who knew him a legacy of being a father, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Kiya Belle Grisham and husband Wyatt of Pontiac; his brother, Bobby Head and wife Donna of Howards Ridge; his sister, Mary Belle Green and husband Winfred of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial was in the Howards Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Howards Ridge Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
