Billy Dan ‘Bill’ Souder, 86
Private family services for Billy Dan Souder, 86, of Rogersville, will be held today, April 22, 2020, at Souder Church of Christ with E. J. Hampton officiating. Mr. Souder died April 18 at his home with his wife, Betty, and his family by his side.
He was born April 21, 1933, in the Caney community of Ozark County, the son of Etcyl and Francis Walker Souder. He was an Army veteran who served as a medic during the Korean War.
On March 16, 1956, in Gainesville, he married Betty Ruth Bushong. Mr. Souder was a retired over-the-road truck driver. He was a Christian and a member of the Rogersville Church of Christ. He enjoyed telling stories, fishing and hunting. He loved visiting with friends around the old country stores.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; a son, James Souder and wife Melinda; six grandchildren, Billy, Nathan, Kymberlee, Haylee, Brittinie and Justin; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan Jr., Jeremy Dan, Jesse, Randall, Gary, Xzavior, Jeannie and Lucas; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jesse; brother H. D. Cole and two infant brothers; one sister, Betty Tate; and a granddaughter, Alicia Davis.
Burial will be in the Souder Cemetery with military honors presented by the Troy Herd American Legion Post #112. Memorial contributions may be made to Souder Cemetery or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be expressed at clinkingbeardfuneralhome.com.
