Donald Eldon Jordan, 79

A memorial service for Donald Eldon Jordan, 79, of Thornfield, was held June 22, 2019, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville.  Mr. Jordan died June 19 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born June 7, 1940, south of Gainesville, the son of Henry C. and Geneva Welch Jordan. He was raised in the Romance and Wasola area. 

In 1961 he married Jody Minkler, but they later divorced. He moved to Springfield and later settled in Texas. He retired from the Duncanville, Texas, post office and moved to the Wasola area. 

In 1996, he married Marlene Evans, and they made their home in Thornfield. He loved to fish and work on the farm, and he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene, of the home; two brothers, Dale Rupert Jordan and Dennis Darrell Jordan; three children, Brad Jordan and wife Hayley of Sherman, Texas, Dana Nutt and husband Wayne of Mabank, Texas, stepdaughter Adealia Evans of Springfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva and Clay Jordan; one grandson Jonathon Nutt.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Wasola Volunteer Fire Department and may be left at the funeral home.
