James ‘Jim’ Brewer, 70

A military service with full military honors for James “Jim” Brewer, 70, of Lakeview, Arkansas, was held Sept. 7, 2018, at Mammoth Assembly of God Church with Gale Wooten officiating. Mr. Brewer died Aug. 31at his home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Joe and Hazel Duggins Brewer. He was an Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War era as a sniper. After the war, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita for many years until his retirement.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish; in his earlier years, he enjoyed bull-riding.

He is survived by one daughter, Scarlett Brewer, and one son, Jessie Brewer, both of Wichita; his mother, Hazel Brewer of Gainesville; his sister, Charlene Graham of Gainesville; and his brother, Rocky Brewer of Lakeview, his constant caregiver and best friend; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Brewer; his former wife, Jan Brewer; and one son, Bryce Brewer.
