James M. Barnes, 57

A celebration of the life of James M. Barnes, 57, of Caulfield, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, at Conner Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. Barnes died June 10 in Mountain Home after a six-year, hard fought battle against cancer.

He was born Jan. 31, 1962, at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas. He graduated from Bakersfield High School and from South Central Vocation Technical School in West Plains with a certificate in autobody work. On Feb. 14, 1983, he married Elizabeth Nipper, and they became the proud parents of two boys.

He was an accomplished autobody technician and shop manager. He held many ASE master certifications and was meticulous in his work. He enjoyed working on automobiles and had a knack for fixing mechanical things.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and boat riding on the lake. He took the time to appreciate the beauty of creation. His favorite outdoor activity was riding his Goldwing motorcycle. He was blessed with the gift of gab and was a man who never met a stranger.

He was willing to share anything he had and was content with the simple things. He told friends and family he had done everything in life he wanted to do, and he genuinely meant it. He leaves behind hearts full of memories and stories to make his loved ones smile.

He is survived by his sons, James Barnes Jr. and wife Merica, and Jered Barnes and wife Nicole, all of Mountain Home; his parents, Junior and Maggie Barnes of Caulfield; his brothers, Jeff Barnes and wife Sandra of Marquette, Michigan, and Jason Barnes and wife Stacey of Mountain Home; his grandchildren, Jaden, Maggie and Tyler and another on the way; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Terrie Partee.

He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Elizabeth Barnes.

Interment will be private at Baptist Hill Cemetery in Elijah. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
