Jerry D. Lowery Sr., 88

Funeral services for Jerry D. Lowery Sr., 88, of Theodosia, were scheduled for 10 a.m. today, May 6, 2020, at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Lowery died April 30 in Branson.

He was born Aug. 9, 1931, in West Carroll Parish, Louisiana, the son of  Compton E. Lowery and Pearl Schrock Farmer. He spent his early years growing up in Oak Grove, Louisiana, and in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He spent his teen years in Jackson, Mississippi.  He was a graduate of Forest Hill High School. 

After graduating from high school, he married the love of his life, Virginia Love McWilliams. After their marriage, Mr. Lowery worked for Armstrong World Industries, where he was employed until his retirement in 1991. He and Mrs. Lowery then moved to Theodosia, where they spent their remaining years. 

During their years together, they were very faithfully involved in their churches, First Baptist Church of Raymond, Mississippi, and Theodosia United Methodist Church.

Mr. Lowery is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Lowery of Chicago, Illinois; one son, David Lowery and wife Judy of Raymond; grandchildren Adam Lowery of Brandon, Mississippi, Deanna Chyn and husband Eric of Hanover, New Hampshire, and Jeff Lowery and wife Olivia of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada; great-grandchildren Malone Lowery, Jackson Lowery, Haiden Lowery,  Bennett Lowery, Amma Chyn and Josephine Chyn; his brothers, John Leonard Farmer and wife Linda of Brandon, Mississippi, and Benjamin Franklin Farmer and wife Sandra of Madison, Mississippi. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; Virginia, his wife of 68 years; and one sister, Mickey Farmer Hollingsworth.  

Memorial contributions are suggested to the donors’ favorite charity.
