Joseph Lee ‘Joe’ Gott, 62

Funeral services for Joseph Lee “Joe” Gott, 62, of Salem, Missouri, were held Jan. 22, 2018, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Gale Wooten officiating. Mr. Gott died Jan. 17 at his home.

He was born Aug. 11, 1955, in Gainesville, the son of Charles Lee and Helen June Blisard Gott. In December 1982, he married Brenda Flatt. 

He served in the Air Force until 1986. After leaving the military, he continued to serve his country as a civilian contractor, servicing and fixing the fleet of airplanes our military maintains. During his life, Mr. Gott traveled the world and nurtured a love of motorcycles, hot rods, the Civil War, avionics, tinkering, family and music. He was known for his ability to teach, his troubleshooting abilities, his humor and wit, and his love for telling a good story. 

He is survived by his mother, Helen Conardy, of Gainesville; his wife, Brenda, of the home in Salem; his children, Megan Owens of Salem and Michael Gott of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren Victoria Owens and Ian Owens of Salem; his brothers and sisters, Lynette Hicks and Kurt Gott,  both of Gainesville, Karl Gott of Mansfield, Kane Gott and wife April of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Jeri Ramsey-Hart of Creighton, Missouri, and Karol Gott of Arkansas; his aunts and uncles, Debbie Green and husband Dale of Jefferson City, and Robert Gott and wife Susan of Florida; and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Kyle Gott; and a nephew, Daniel Hicks.

Full military honors followed the service. The family  honored Mr. Gott’s wishes for cremation following the service. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
