She attended Gainesville High School and then worked at Johnson’s Store on the square in downtown Gainesville. She met her future husband, Basil C. Gaulding, on a blind date. They moved to Kansas City, where Mrs. Gaulding was employed by Sunshine Biscuit Company. Later, she took a position with Bendix Corporation, where she worked until she resigned to begin raising their family.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and also an excellent cook; many people enjoyed delicious meals around her table.
The greatest joy in her life was her love for God and her deep faith in Christ. Her family and friends could count on her to pray for any needs or concerns brought to her attention. She always had an encouraging word or scripture to share.
She is survived by Basil C. Gaulding, her dear husband of 72 years; her children, Lecia Summerer and husband Robert, and Paula Land and husband Ty; her grandchildren, Tim Summerer and wife Mallory, Andrew Summerer, Abrienne Summerer, Corey Land and Codey Land; her three great-grandchildren, Finnley, Milo and Evie Summerer; and her sister Johnalee Crawford Suter of Gainesville.
