Linda Lou Gardner White, 76, of Springfield, died May 9, 2020, in Cox South Hospital in Springfield. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Gaulding Cemetery near Nottinghill.

She was born Nov. 16, 1943, in Nottinghill, the daughter of Glenn and Helen Hobbs Gardner. She attended elementary grades in the one-room Nottinghill School then graduated from Gainesville High School in 1961. After high school she went to Kansas City, where she worked first for Hallmark Cards and then for the Bendix Corporation.

In 1986, the Whites moved to Austin, Texas, for Mr. White’s job in sales with a plastic injection-molding company. After several years in Austin, they moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts, where they were part-owner of a company. From there, they moved to McAllen, Texas, before settling back on the family farm in Nottinghill where they built a home and cared for Mrs. White’s mother until her death in 2013. They moved to Springfield in 2018.

Mrs. White had many diverse interests. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moment figurines and also loved to do creative crafts, decorating hats with bling and making artful floral arrangements.

Survivors include Sam, her husband of 55 years, and one daughter, Sherri Ann White of McAllen, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
