Michael Earl Clay, 67

Funeral services for Michael Earl Clay, 67, of Gainesville, were held May 20, 2019, at Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mr. Clay died May 15, losing his battle with ALS, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas, with his wife and son by his side. 

He was born Oct. 7, 1951, in Granite City, Illinois, the son of Louie Dorman Clay and Geraldine Evans Clay.

On March 22, 1997, he married Patricia “Trish” Estes. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the Armed Services from 1972 to 1975. He was a member of Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church. He retired from Baxter Laboratories after 23 years.

He is survived by his wife Trish Estes-Clay and his son Brandt Clay, of the family home, and his constant companion Nugget; two sisters, Pam Cockran and husband Keith of Bunker Hill, Illinois, and Becky Bergeron and husband Steve of Bryant, Arkansas; brother Fred Clay of Granite City, Illinois; brothers-in-law Ronnie Estes and wife Kim of Blackwell, Missouri, Don Estes and wife Sarah of Warrenton, and Joey Estes and wife Gretchen of Gainesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dustin Estes.

Burial was in the Faye Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faye Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.
