Mildred Lantz, 90

A celebration of the life of Mildred “Millie” Lantz, 90, of Eveleth, Minnesota, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home in Eveleth. Mrs. Lantz died March 8 at New Journey Residence in Eveleth.

She was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Isabella, the daughter of Everett and Ernestine Johnson. She grew up on the family cattle ranch and fondly reminisced about time spent there.

On Feb. 18, 1946, she married Charles Lantz; they celebrated 69 years of marriage before Mr. Lantz died in 2015.  After traveling the country following construction jobs, they settled in Embarrass, Minnesota,  where they raised their family and enjoyed the friendship of the community. Gifted with a green thumb, Mrs. Lantz loved her garden, which boasted many plants and beautiful flowers.

In 2003, they moved to Virginia and embraced a welcoming community and neighborhood there.

She is survived by her children, Janice Lamppa and husband Jim,  and Virginia Maki and husband Rod, all of Eveleth, Jim Lantz and wife Sue of Makinen, Minnesota, and Merry Jo Lantz of Minneapolis;  grandchildren Derek Lamppa, Kevin Lantz and wife Cheryl, Curt Wercinski, Brent Lamppa and wife Julie, Kyle Lantz and wife Anita, Doug Aysta, Darren Wercinski and wife Elise, Robert Aysta, Jessica Lamppa-Score and husband John, Joe Bjerke and wife Vicky, Brook Beyer and husband Saul; and 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; brothers Paul Johnson and wife Irene, and Gene Johnson and wife Billie; a sister, Margaret Sanders and husband Boyd; and a grandson, Joseph Lantz Aysta.
