Nola Sue Melton Nance, 81

Funeral services for Nola Sue Melton Nance, 81, of Noble, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Milan Chisam officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Nance died Aug. 4 at her home with her children by her side. 

She was born May 19, 1938, in Romance, the daughter of Herman and Dalta Naugle Melton. She graduated from Gainesville High School at the age of 16. She worked as secretary at the propane plants for Union Gas and Synergy for 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and embroidery. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and was well known for her van with EP-FAN license plates. She was a member of the Jerry Presley Club and attended most of his shows in his early years. In her later life, she became obsessed with the singer Prince.

Mrs. Nance was saved at an early age and was a member of Barren Fork Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hawkins and husband Dennis of Noble; two sons, Loren Nance, and Layne Nance and his special friend Tammie Loftis, all of Romance; one sister, Nova “Jean” Blisard of Gainesville; a brother-in-law, Jack Nance of Wilhoit; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Loftis of Noble, Annevee Loftis of Nottinghill, and Pauline Nance of Ozark; six grandchildren, Dillon and Dalton Hawkins, Dara Collins, Andrew Jonas, Aaron and Will Nance; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Brandt Nance, who died in 2001; great-grandson Marshall Dale “Ironman” Collins in 2014; and one sister, Norma Hawkins.

Burial will be in the Jackson Cemetery at Romance. Memorial contributions may be made to the family and may be left at the funeral home.
