A private graveside service for Purna Mae Roberts, 86, of West Plains, will be held at Clear Springs Cemetery. She will lie in state from 5 until 9 p.m. today, April 22, 2020, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Roberts died April 17 at NHC Healthcare in West Plains.

She was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charley Everett and Leila Ellen Beard Pitcock. She graduated from West Plains High School in 1953.

On July 8, 1954, in Salem, Arkansas, she married John Henry Roberts Sr.

Mrs. Roberts enjoyed doing crafts and was proud of her education. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in West Plains.

She is survived by eight children, Glenda Brooks of the Kansas City area, John Roberts Jr. and wife Judy of Keenes, Illinois, Everett Wayne Roberts, and Patricia Birdsong and husband Roger, all of West Plains, Jack Roberts and wife Greta, and Wesley Roberts and wife Marcie, all of Dora, Brenda Miller and husband Tommy of Alton, and Connie Roberts of Richland; 34 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Davis and Mona Anglin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died Jan. 3, 1991; two daughters, Sharon Graham and Janice Roberts; four grandsons, Christopher Roberts, and Dalton, Dylan and Jason Kuhlman; one brother, Everett Pitcock Sr.; and three sisters, Bonnie Burnley, Gertrude Gregory and Norma Grisham.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Clear Springs Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, MO  65775. Online condolences may be expressed at robertsondrago.com.
