Raymond Eugene Rogers, 68

Funeral services for Raymond Eugene “Gene” Rogers, 68, of Protem, were scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Feb. 14, 2018, at the Protem Community Church with Tom Cantrell officiating. Mr. Rogers died Feb. 10 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Protem, the son of Raymond and Audrey Cole Rogers. On Nov. 17, 1967, he married Mary Dunn. 

He loved to hunt and work on the farm. With all his heart, he loved his children and grandchildren. He became a Christian at an early age and loved the Lord and loved reading and studying the Bible. The 91st Psalm was one of his favorite passages to read.

He loved to sing, especially gospel songs, and was known in the area for his auctioneering. He worked many years as an over -the-road driver. He worked for Consumers Warehouse and retired from Taney County Road and Bridge. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Rogers; a son, Kelly Rogers of Protem; a daughter ,Kim Borkenhagen of Kissee Mills; two sisters, Arlene Rogers of Springfield and Anna Hamilton of Buffalo; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many more family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Rogers, and his father, Raymond Rogers.

Burial will be next to his son, Kevin, in the Protem Cemetery.
