Robert ‘Bob’ Royce Snelson, 79

Graveside memorial services for Robert “Bob” Royce Snelson, 79, of Wasola, were held June 23, 2018, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Wasola with Halbert Smith officiating. Mr. Snelson died June 18 in Springfield.
He was born July 21, 1938, in Thornfield, the son of Fred and Thelma Farnsworth Snelson. On July 5, 1958, he married Mary Lou Robbins. They were looking forward to celebrating their 60th anniversary with family and friends.
Mr. Snelson spent his entire life working in agriculture. For many years he was owner-operator of beef, dairy and poultry farms in Douglas, Ozark and Lawrence counties. He spent more than 20 years in various management positions for large poultry companies in Missouri, Arkansas and Minnesota. He began his poultry career as the artificial inseminator for his own turkey operation in Wasola.
The Snelsons loved to travel, especially to the mountains of the western United States. Mr. Snelson was a very accomplished and avid fisherman who loved to fish for sport or for competition. He especially loved to fish with his long-time friends and fishing partners, Don Beason and Dean Gautney. He taught the love of fishing to his children and grandchildren.  
 Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of Wasola; four children, Rick Snelson and wife Lynda of Ava, Vicki Smith and husband Halbert of Gainesville; Karen Humphrey and husband Bruce of St. Joseph, and Shannon McIntosh and husband Darren of Raymore; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Landon and Tara Snelson and their children Lauren, Avery and Ryan; Lindsay and Mark Barnum and their children Abby, Ellie and Hudson; Crystal and Sawyer Deakins and their children Tead and Cadyn; Titus and Jessica Smith; Jacob Humphrey; Duke and Scarlett McIntosh; one brother, Gary Snelson and wife Debbie of Gainesville; two sisters, Betty Ethridge and husband Neal of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Linda Warren and husband Bill of Henderson, Nevada.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Randy Snelson.  
 Memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Oak Grove Cemetery.
