Graveside memorial services with full military honors for Royce Everett Eslinger, 96, of Wasola will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at Jackson Cemetery near Romance. Mr. Eslinger died Sept. 15 at his home.

He was born Sept. 24, 1922, the firstborn of the five children of Fred and Drotha Gardiner Eslinger. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany with the 103rd Infantry (“Cactus”) Division, which was assigned to go behind enemy lines to find enemy troops’ location. It was a dangerous assignment, and few members of the unit returned home.  He received two bronze stars for his service.

Shortly after returning home from the war, he married Evelyn Price. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on May 4 of this year. 

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Linda Wasilkoff and husband Anthony, Ona Boyd and husband Raymond and Glenda Eslinger; grandchildren Paul Wasilkoff and wife Coreen, Cheri Williams and husband Jared, Benjamin Boyd, Charley Hogue, Christal Curtis and husband Willie, Wayne Hogue, Thomas Hogue, Bonnie Hogue, Jeromy Eslinger and wife Lynn, Justin Eslinger and wife Amanda, Tammy Crouch and husband Dustin, and Randy Black; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Yvonne, Edward, Don and Rosalie, as well as three children, Louise, Evelina and Calvin.
