Wilma Duncan-Cook, 81

Funeral services for Wilma Duncan-Cook, 81, of Portage, Indiana, were held Aug. 19, 2019, at Rees Funeral Home in Portage, Indiana, with Pastor Phil Willingham officiating. Mrs. Duncan-Cook died Aug. 14 in Portage.

She was born March 6, 1938, near Dora, the daughter of Dewey and Myrtle Smith. She went to beauty school and was a homemaker and a beautician. She was a member of the Heartland Christian Center of Valparaiso, Indiana. She taught Sunday school at several churches in the area. She also loved crafting and flowers. 

She is survived by one daughter, Anita Mayfield and husband Dewey of Valparaiso; two step-sons, Jackie Cook and wife Kim, and Barry Cook, all of Portage; three brothers, Claudie Smith and wife Alene of Lockwood, Dewey Smith and wife Doris of Bolivar, and Huey Smith and wife Arlene of Thornfield; eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Duncan, formerly of Caulfield, and Maylon “Jack” Cook; three sisters, Edith, Sylvia Rhodes, Pauline Noble; four brothers, Everett Smith, Arless Smith, Prentice Smith and Sampson Smith.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
