Wilma L. Fish, 91

Funeral services for Ozark County native Wilma L. Fish, 91, of Vanzant, were held Dec. 17, 2019, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with E. J. Hampton officiating. Mrs. Fish died Dec. 12 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

She was born March 14, 1928, in Romance, the daughter of Logan N. and Ella Mae Burch Naugle. On Dec. 26, 1946, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, she married Charles R. Fish. Mrs. Fish was a well-known musician and dollmaker; she was also a retired funeral director. Some highlights of her life were making dried-apple-head dolls in her doll shop, “Wilma’s Apple Dolls,” for 50 years and playing folk music on her antique musical instruments, traveling and performing with her husband and her folk music bands, “The Family From Romance” and “The Folk 4.”

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by one daughter, Jalana D. Jenkins, and one son, Randy E. Fish; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died on Aug. 17, 2003; one son and one daughter; one grandson; three sisters and one brother; and one son-in-law.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Wasola. Memorial contributions may be made to the Souder Church of Christ, 296 County Road 134, Wasola, MO 65773.
