GHS academic team invited to national tournament for fourth consecutive year

The Gainesville High School academic team’s hard work this season has landed them an invitation to participate in the national tournament in Chicago, Illinois this spring. This will be the team’s fourth straight appearance at this invitation-only tournament hosted by the National Academic Quiz Tournament association.
The team, coached by Michelle Pointer and Raymond Gross, competed in the Mountain Grove academic tournament Saturday where their 4-1 record in the preliminary round qualified them for the championship bracket. “They secured a third-place finish in a nail-biter against a solid team from Clever,” assistant coach Gross said. “Outstanding work in the preliminary rounds from both Ben Pointer and Hunter Webb earned them individual recognition.”
