YEP members attend conference

Members of the Gainesville chapter of the Youth Empowerment Project recently attended the annual YEP conference in Springfield. Keynote speakers at the conference, Greene County Commissioner and Missouri Senate candidate Lincoln Hough and State Rep. Crystal Quade, described their experiences as young people holding elected positions and the importance of community engagement and involvement. The students also participated in small-group exercises at the Southwest Center for Independent Living. YEP, a program of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, promotes the principles of philanthropy through education, community grantmaking, service projects and fundraising. Gainesville YEP is one of about 30 chapters across the region.
