State qualifying archers

The Gainesville archery team, coached by Greg Lowder, left, and Mindy Peirce, right, has competed in five tournaments this year. The team has 22 members from fourth through 12th grade; five members have qualified to compete in the state archery tournament set for Saturday, March 25, at the Branson Convention Center in Branson. Those archers are, from left, fifth grader Morgan Strain, eighth grader Abbey Freeman and seventh grader Maverick Bushner and (not pictured) high school junior Roman Tiller and fifth grader Creedan Campbell. Creedan and Morgan compete at 1:30 p.m., and the other three shoot at 4:30 p.m. The team is currently hosting two fundraisers to help raise money with the goal of eventually hosting tournaments at Gainesville School. A backlight zumba party is set for 6 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Gainesville High School gym. Entry to the event is by donation. Everyone attending should wear white or neon in order to glow under the black lights. (See ad page 2.) Also, raffle tickets are available for a $500 Bass Pro gift card. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be held during the backlight zumba party.
