Measles are making the rounds in the vicinity of Bakersfield, Moody and other localities of the eastern part of the county. We learned of some deaths as a result of the sickness.
We are reliably informed that the wife of Prof. Etherage of Howell county recently died of measles.

Dr. L. M. Harrison, who was shot by Wm. H. Luna last Saturday morning a week ago, was taken to the Burge-Deaconess hospital at Springfield, arriving there last Friday, and the bullet which had embedded itself in the bones of the shoulder removed. Latest reports from Springfield are that he is improving.
Mammoth – W. R. Mullins has got a new fence around his mother’s farm.
Several of our girls were here Saturday buying hats and white goods; they are getting ready for the singing convention the second Sunday in May.
W. L. Dye has a nice line of Misses hats now.
