Gainesville, Dora advance in districts

Two Ozark County high school basketball teams are hoping to take another step in district tournament action after they both were winners Tuesday night.

In the class 2 district 10 tournament tonight at Norwood the Gainesville Bulldogs (15-11) will square off with a tough Norwood team, who are 24-2 on the year and will be playing on their home floor.

The Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals after beating Mansfield in a 'nail-biter in the opening round, 48-47.

Also in the opening round, the Dora Falcons (17-9) beat Plato 52-45.

Gainesville will play Norwood at 6 p.m. tonight followed by Dora vs. Hartville at 7:30 p.m. Winners will play for the championship at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs were eliminated from the tournament after losing to Fordland in the semifinal round Wednesday night, 49-33. The Lady Bulldogs finish their season with a 12-13 mark. Fordland moves on to take on Hartville in the championship game Saturday night. The Dora Lady Falcons lost in the opening round of the tournament at the hands of the Lady Bulldogs, 41-33.

Lutie and Bakersfield teams, both boys and girls, have been eliminated from the class 1 district 4 tournament.
