Masonic Home now triples gifts to local schools through Masons’ fundraising proceeds and donations

Ray Coahran, left, and Bobby Grisham, members of Robert Burns Masonic Lodge in Gainesville, had good news for residents who purchased $10 boxes of microwave popcorn at the Gainesville ball fields last week, part of the lodge’s efforts to support area children in need. Five dollars of each popcorn box purchase at Gainesville and Dora school sporting events throughout the year is now being combined with a double match by the Masonic Home of Missouri through its Creating a Partnership Program, which benefits children. That means money raised and gifts donated to Ozark County Masons is now tripled as gifts to area schools. As Grisham explained, “If we send $100 to the Masonic Home, they send us $300 back for the school.” In the photo, Grisham is holding a letter from the Masonic Home recognizing the Gainesville Lodge for providing $43,214.69 to Ozark County schools during the program’s history. The Gainesville Masons originally supported all Ozark County school through their fundraising efforts. They now focus on Gainesville and Dora schools. Bayou Lodge in Bakersfield supports Bakersfield School through its fish fries and other fundraisers, and Sampson Lodge in Theodosia supports Lutie, Thornfield and Mark Twain schools through its first-Saturday community breakfast. In addition to their fundraising efforts, the lodges gratefully accept financial donations from the public, and those gifts are also returned to the schools with a double match by the Masonic Home. To help, make checks payable to the specific lodge, noting “Creating a Partnership” and the designated school’s name on the memo line, and send to Grisham (P.O. Box 223, Gainesville, MO 65655) for Robert Burns Lodge in Gainesville or to Royce Wheeler (P.O. Box 265, Bakersfield, MO 65609) for Bayou Lodge in Bakersfield. Donations to Sampson Lodge in Theodosia may be mailed directly to the Lodge at P.O. Box 301, Theodosia, MO 65761. Remember to note “Creating a Partnership” and the designated school name (Lutie, Thornfield or Mark Twain) on the memo line.
