Ozark County’s active covid case number returns to zero

The Ozark County Health Department reported last week that there were no active cases of covid-19 among Ozark County residents.

The health department was unable to provide covid statistics this week due to the extra work needed to run an April 6 covid-19 vaccination clinic, staff members told the Times.

Although the United States saw its first confirmed case of covid on Jan. 21, 2020, there were no reports of Ozark County residents having been infected with the virus until mid-June. Before that time, Ozark County was one of three Missouri counties that hadn’t had a confirmed case.

Ozark County peaked in active cases in January this year when, in the Jan. 13, 2021, edition of the Times, the OCHD reported 121 active cases.

Tragically, 21 Ozark County residents have died while actively infected by the covid virus, according to OCHD.
