Virginia Mae Farmer, 82

A memorial service for Virginia Mae Farmer, 82, of Kyle, Texas, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Hilltop Victory Chapel in Thornfield with Pastor Steve Wacholtz officiating. A light dinner reception will follow the service.

Mrs. Farmer died May 25, 2020, at Orchard Park Assisted Living Center in Kyle. 

She was born Aug. 1, 1937, on a simple farm in Annona, Texas, the first of 16 children born to John Richard and Mable Norris Webster. 

She grew up in Texas and left home to get married at age 16. She and her first husband lived in Kansas City, Kansas, for several years.

In the mid-1980s, she married Weldon Farmer in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1995, she moved with him to his family farm in Thornfield.  

She loved to garden, crochet, can her own food and help  others. She enjoyed attending church at Hilltop when she lived in Thornfield. 

In 2014, for health reasons, she moved to Kyle to live with her daughter and family.

She is survived by one son, Danny Lee Tigue, of Lansing, Kansas; one daughter, Jeannie Willis of Kyle; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and some of her siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Virginia Ann McNeely and Debra Parsley; and some of her siblings. 

Burial will be in the Thornfield Cemetery near her husband. No graveside service will be held.
