Absentee voting now open for primary

Absentee voting for the Aug. 7 primary election has begun. Ozark County Clerk Lisa Hawkins says voters who will be unable to go to the polls on Election Day should contact her office for the required application. Absentee ballots may be voted by mail or in person at the clerk's office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In a primary election, each voter is required to choose which party ballot he or she wishes to vote (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Constitution, Non-Partisian), Hawkins said.
The last day to mail absentee ballots for the primary is Aug. 1.
The last day to register to vote in the primary is Wednesday, July 11, and the clerk's office will be open until 5 p.m. that day.
