Bakersfield ball players can now practice at Pride Park, thanks to community volunteers’ hard work
Those who saw the devastation at Pride Park, Bakersfield School’s baseball and softball facility, following the March 14 tornado would be astonished to know that, thanks to the unending work of community volunteers, coaches, school staff and students, Bakersfield players can now practice on the fields. No more traveling every day for practice.
However, Pride Park and Pavilion are not open for public use, the school said in a post on its Facebook page. The play equipment has not been cleared for use, and a lot of work is still going on at the park. Only repair, emergency operations, construction and supervised school activities are allowed on the property.
While there’s still lots of works to be done, at least a little bit of normalcy has been returned to its softball and baseball players, and the coaches and players are thankful.
