Lions teams take first, second in Couch Inv.
The Bakersfield Lions cross country runners competed at the Oct. 4 Couch Invitational meet with several runners placing in the 3.1-mile competition.
The Bakersfield Lions varsity boys team placed first in the competition as a team, while the Lady Lions placed second as a team.
In the individual boys race, Chad Carey led the varsity boys team, snagging the second place spot with a time of 23:42. Other runners were: Tyler Hodgson in fifth place with 24:22, Levi Hodgson in seventh place with 25:14, Nathan Watlington in twelfth place with 27:21, Gage Samuels in 13th with 27:29 and Jessie Tacket in 15th place with 29:01.
In the individual girls race, Keely Stevens took second place with a time of 30:28, followed by Callie Smith who ran in at 30:53. Other runners were Madison Melvin in 10th place with 33:57, Sadie Davidson with 38:41 and Chloe Harris in 15th place with 54:32.
