Mahan has also coached and taught at other school districts in the Ozarks including Lutie, Dora, Potosi, Niangua, Fairview and Couch before returning to Bakersfield in 2018. He had coached/taught previously at Bakersfield in 2005-2006.

“I am looking forward to playing a bigger role in our school district next year and coaching these young ladies next season,” Mahan said.

“I’m excited and blessed for the opportunity to be the Athletic Director and head coach for the Bakersfield Lady Lions next year.”

Mahan is a 1996 graduate of Bakersfield High School. He graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 1998 with an associates degree and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in 2000.

Mahan is married to Tracy, who is an elementary teacher at Junction Hill School in West Plains. They have three boys, Tyler, Logan and Mason.

Mahan said he has received a lot of words of support from local folks since his promotion was announced. “I appreciate all the support from our Bakersfield community,” Mahan said.  “Words cannot describe how excited I am.”
