Burglary suspect caught on trail camera in B’field

A reported theft in Bakersfield last fall took an unusual turn when a woman later contacted the victim’s family, claiming she knew the suspect and offered to return the items he stole if charges were not filed.

According to the probable cause statement, prepared by Deputy Gannan Moss, at approximately 4 p.m. Sept. 23, 2025, the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft at a property in Bakersfield. 

The victim told a dispatcher that several items were stolen from his property including items taken from his shed. Trail camera footage showed an individual wearing a mask and gloves driving a silver hatchback on the property around 1:15 p.m. that day. 

The victim’s wife posted pictures of the suspect and his vehicle on Facebook, receiving information that the vehicle was frequently seen in Moody, a small community in neighboring Howell County. Deputies contacted the Howell County Sheriff’s Office to request further information. 

Later that evening, around 10:15 p.m., the victim’s stepfather reported that a woman had contacted him, claiming she knew the individual responsible for the theft. She identified the suspected man as 54-year-old Mountain Home, Arkansas resident George Krumsick and said he was willing to return the items if no charges were pressed. The stepfather indicated that he didn’t explicitly promise to drop charges but suggested it was possible if all the items were returned. The Husqvarna chainsaw had already been sold, but Krumsick still retrieved the piece of machinery in order to return it, the report says. 

At approximately 10:15 p.m., deputies met the woman in Bakersfield, where she returned all the stolen items. They were documented and photographed. After being read her Miranda rights, the woman provided a statement saying Krumsick was the individual responsible for the theft. 

Krumsick is facing a class D felony charge of stealing items worth $750 or more. A warrant was issued and he was arrested Oct. 30 in Arkansas and extradited to Missouri. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance with supervision by Court Probationary Services the same day. But, a non-compliance report from his supervising officer was filed Nov. 6, and he was re-arrested and served 8 days in jail for the violation. He was scheduled to appear back in court Tuesday before Associate Judge Raymond Gross for a preliminary hearing in the case. Details of the hearing were not available at presstime.
