One guilty plea accepted on law day

Circuit Court Judge Craig Carter processed 21 defendants during the March 19 session of Ozark County Circuit Court.

Michelle Wilcox (see related story, page A9) pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, a D class felony. She was sentenced to 5 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. According to court records, a second charge of felony possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of willfully failing or refusing to obey or resisting or opposing a law enforcement officer or firefighter in the property discharge of their duties were dismissed. Probation was also revoked for a previous felony conviction of possession of a controlled substance. Both sentences will run concurrent and she will receive credit for time served in the Ozark County Jail. She is being held in the Douglas County Jail pending transportation to the DOC. 

Taylor French appeared with her attorney, Public Defender Chase Opolka, and admitted her probation violation. Butler County refused her admission to drug court. French’s probation was continued with additional conditions. She is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail.

 

Not guilty plea

Matthew Demorest waived formal arraignment and reading of the charges and entered a plea of not guilty to the class D felony of unlawful possession of a firearm. Demorest is set to appear at 1:30 p.m. April 22 for a plea or trial setting.

Katherine J. Brotherton’s probation violation hearing was continued to 9 a.m. April 9. She is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail.

Jeremiah Love’s plea or trial hearings were continued to 9 a.m. April 9 for an expected plea, according to court records.

A probation violation hearing for Michael D. Peardon was continued to 9 a.m. April 9. He is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail.

The arraignment for John Zastrow was rescheduled to 9 a.m. April 9. Zastrow is charged with the class A felony of second degree trafficking drugs, two class E felonies of unlawful use of a weapon by possessing weapon and a felony controlled substance and keeping or maintaining a public nuisance and the misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

A probation violation hearing for William D. Meeks was continued to 1:30 p.m. April 22. 

A plea or trial setting for Brandon Wyman was rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 22. He is charged with first degree harassment, an E class felony.

A plea or trial setting for Robert C. Hudson was rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 22. According to court records, Hudson will be screened for drug court. He is charged in one case with the E class felony of first degree harassment, and in a second case of the D class felony of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia with prior drug offense.

A plea or trial setting and a hearing for all pending motions for Jerry Parks was rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 22. Parks is charged with the unclassified felony of first-degree rape or attempted rape, the C class felony of delivery of controlled substance, the D class felony of possession of a controlled substance and the misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The probation violation hearing for Dylan M. Burke was rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. April 22. 

The probation violation hearing for Michael B. Mansfield was rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. April 22.

A plea or trial setting for Gregory Broya Hambelton was rescheduled for 9 a.m. May 7. He is charged with the E class felonies of first degree harassment and second degree terrorist threat and misdemeanor fourth degree domestic assault, first offense driving while revoked, first degree trespass and fourth degree domestic assault.

A plea or trial setting for Matthew N. Collins was rescheduled for 9 a.m. May 7. He is charged with the class D felony of possession of a controlled substance, the class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon by possessing a weapon and a felony controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia with a prior drug offense.

A plea or trial setting for Alexander J. Olson was rescheduled for 9 a.m. May 7. He is charged with the class E felony of resisting arrest, detention or stop by fleeing and creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death to any person.

A plea or trial setting for Orval D. Merriman was rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. May 21. According to court records, Merriman will be screened for drug court. He is charged with the C class felony of second degree trafficking drugs and the E class felony of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia - amphetamine or methamphetamine. Merriman faces new charges in associate court.

A plea or trial setting for David L. Bradberry II was rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. May 21. According to court records, Bradberry may be released to a sober living home. He is charged in one case with a D class felony of delivery or possession of a controlled substance at a county, private jail or correctional center except with prescription, a D class felony of possession of a controlled substance in a second case, and two charges of felony failure to appear in a third and fourth case. He is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail.

A probation violation hearing for Blake S. Osgood was rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. May 27.

 

Continued to June 4

A probation violation hearing for Kandace Newton was continued to 9 a.m. June 4. According to online court records, she was released to Design Your Life Recovery Homes for treatment. Upon completion, release, removal or voluntary departure from the program she will return to the custody of the Ozark County Jail.
