Robert Peat Jr.’s pre-trial conference continued to Nov. 10

A pre-trial conference for Robert Peat Jr. has been rescheduled to 9 a.m. Nov. 10, at the Greene County Courthouse. The hearing was supposed to be held Aug. 19; however, the online docket entry from the case shows that the case was moved to the division six docket in error. The case was instead supposed to be heard in division five instead.

The state is being represented by Assistant Attorney General Gregory Goodwin, and Peat is represented by Defense Attorney James Hayes.

Peat was indicted by an Ozark County grand jury on charges of first-degree murder, abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death, second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse.

The case is in connection with the death of 16-year-old Savannah Leckie in July 2017. Peat is the co-defendant of Theodosia resident Rebecca Ruud, who was found not guilty of the similar charges by Circuit Judge Calvin Holden last month. Peat testified for the state at the Ruud trial.
