A father’s stolen gun and a threat to kill President Donald Trump led to a Thornfield woman’s arrest in January and a stay in the Ozark County Jail.
Johnetta Willard Jeun Parsons, 42, is charged with stealing a firearm after her father reported the theft of the Sccy CPX-2 9mm pistol.
According to the probable cause statement, written by Ozark County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Matt Rhoades, received a call to investigate the stolen firearm at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 8, 2025. The victim reported that Parsons, his daughter, had possibly stolen the firearm from his residence. The firearm was entered into the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) as stolen.
Rhoades said he received some information about the pistol on Jan. 3 when the Columbia Police Department transmitted a hit in MULES, indicating that the stolen pistol had been recovered.
That same day the victim’s granddaughter reported that Parsons was standing in front of a Greyhound bus station in St. Louis.
According to the probable cause statement, Rhoades contacted the Columbia PD where the lead officer told him that two persons arrived at the station in a vehicle containing several personal items.
“These individuals stated they had transported their friend, Johnetta Parsons, to St. Louis to drop her off after which she left her belongings in their vehicle.”
Among those belongings was a 9mm pistol, positively identified as the stolen firearm.
“The victim’s granddaughter further reported that, while the suspect was in St. Louis, the suspect sent text messages to her stating that she intended to use the stolen pistol to kill President Trump after securing transportation via bus…” Rhoades wrote.
“The suspect communicated several times via text that she possessed the firearm, though she later claimed a friend was holding it and reiterated her plan to kill the president.”
Rhoades contacted the United States Secret Service Field Office in Chicago and gave them the details of Parson’s intentions and the Secret Service confirmed that they would relay the information to an appropriate field agent for further action.
Rhoades wrote that on Jan. 4, while he was on patrol, the victim contacted him and reported that his daughter had returned to his residence.
“She again relayed her desire to kill the president, appearing upset and irate. The victim reaffirmed his intent to prosecute for the theft of his firearm,” the report says.
Rhoades told the victim the firearm had been recovered by the Columbia PD, and he could retrieve the gun.
Parsons was taken into custody and transported to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office where she was booked for stealing a firearm.
“During the course of this investigation, I was provided with screenshots of text messages from Johnetta Parsons to the victim,” Rhoades wrote in his probable cause statement. “In these messages, the suspect admitted to taking the firearm, instructed the victim to report it stolen and expressed her intentions to kill the president.”
Parsons remains in the Ozark County Jail with a $5,000 cash only bond. She is scheduled to appear in court before Associate Judge Raymond Gross at 1:30 p.m. April 7 for a preliminary hearing.
