Woman charged with meth possession from October

Carmen Mitchell

A warrant with a $2,000 bond has been issued for the arrest of Carmen Mitchell, 42, of Zanoni, in connection with a case in which she’s charged with possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia with a prior drug offense.

On 11 p.m. Oct. 31, 2024, a search warrant was executed at an address in Zanoni where Kandace Newton and Mitchell lived. When officers arrived, Mitchell was not at the residence, but Newton was.

“Inside the cabin, we located several pieces of mail addressed to [Mitchell] and [Newton] as well as other items that identified [Mitchell] as a resident of the cabin,” the report says.

Officers also reportedly found 40 grams of liquid in a glass container, a large pill bottle with a white crystal-like substance inside a kitchen cabinet  and a porcelain plate next to it with a line of suspected methamphetamine on it. All of the items field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the report says. Officers also found three straws, one spoon and several empty plastic baggies that field-tested positive for meth, and multiple small clean bags, which are common with the storage and sale of methamphetamine, Rhoades wrote.

Rita Sanders has entered her appearance as Mitchell’s defense attorney. Co-defendant Newton has also been charged in the case (Newton is also charged in the case. See March 26 edition for details on her arrest).
