Dora cross country teams take second in Conway


Dora’s varsity girls and boys cross country teams snagged second place in the Oct. 5 Conway Invitational cross country meet where 12 teams competed. The Gainesville and Dora cross country teams competed in the Conway Invitational Oct. 5 with high school participants running 3.1 miles and junior high runners competing in the 1.5 mile race. There were 12 schools total that participated.

 

Dora Falcons

The Dora varsity girls and boys teams both took second place in the event.

The Dora Lady Falcons varsity team also had four girls who received individual medals: Isabella Martin came in third with a time of 23:09, Emma Martin came in fourth with a time of 23:12, Chloe Barton placed 17th with a time of 26:30 and Shelby Causey placed 22nd with a time of 28:13. Kayden Jones came in 29th place with 29:51 and Mia Gray came in 40th with a time of 41:38.

The Dora Falcons boys runners had three competitors come home  with individual medals: Cade Nold got first place with a time of 18:11, Joshua Nold took sixth place with a time of 19:17 and Daniel Tomlinson took 17th place with a time of 20:55. Josiah Ward got 38th place with a time of 23:22, Carson Howard got 42nd place with 23:56, Jeffrey Mills placed 45th with a time of 24:33, Taber Walker came in 51st place with a time of 26:32 and Wilson Masters came in 64th with a time of 35:56. 

 

Gainesville Bulldogs

The Gainesville varsity boys did not have enough runners available to compete as a team due to a conflict with the baseball schedule and a few runners who are sidelined due to injuries. Three individuals came home with medals: Ryder Murphy placed third with a time of 18:50, Isaac Pippin placed 14th place with a time of 20:42 and Archer Luna placed 19th with a time of 20:57. Zeke Yarger finished in 49th place with a time of 25:55.

The varsity girls also did not have enough runners to compete as a team due to a conflict with the volleyball schedule. There were two runners who received medals: Kaitlyn Kahl finished in 5th place with a time of 23:37, and Alyssa Smith got 20th place with a time of 26:55. Laykin Suter pulled off a nice personal record with a time of 29:37 and took 27th place. Freshman Lauren Smith finished in 31:11 and came in 32nd place. 

The junior high boys had three individual runners bring home medals in the 1.5-mile race: Aidan Thome took second place, and Alex Esley in 36th place. Orion Bradley finished in 58th place.

The junior high girls team won second place, and there were four medalists: Jessica Suit came in second place,  Annabell Snelson came in seventh place, Peyton Eslinger in 16th place and Moxie Similkier in 19th place. Other runners included Isabelle Workman (28th place), Nina Sponugle (29th place), Sierra Jarvis (34th place), Raine Similier (37th place), Morgan Rogers (43rd place) and Pazlea Foster (44th place).
