CROSS COUNTRY: Dora’s Sheree Nold named Class 1 Coach of the Year
It’s been a season of successes and comebacks for the Dora cross country athletes and their coach, Sheree Nold. It all culminated last week, when Coach Nold was named SWCCCA Class 1 Coach of the Year after her girls team won the state championship for the first time in school history.
In addition to the girls’ success, senior Cade Nold, son of the coach, was able to claw his way back from a virus he contracted early in the season to earn a medal and all-state status for his last cross country season at Dora.
Daniel Tomlinson, a sophomore at Dora, also earned all-state honors after his 11th place finish at the state meet.
Coach Nold has been at Dora since 2015, teaches high school math and is coach of cross country and track and field at the school.
Dora School officials announced the honor on its Facebook page saying “Big congratulations to Coach Sheree Nold on being names SWCCCA Class 1 Coach of the Year. Her positive attitude, humble spirit and infectious energy make everything she’s part of better. What an incredible leader and inspiration for our cross country team and the community.”
Nold shares the honor with Chadwick coach Jenny Gardner, whose team took second at state this year.
