CROSS COUNTRY: Dora Falcons XC teams compete at Willow
The Dora Falcons braved hot, humid conditions Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Stave Waggoner Invitational at Willow Springs.
“The Willow Springs meet is always a welcomed challenge at the start of our season,” said Dora Head Coach Sheree Nold. “Training on hills has its major advantages. This year the extreme heat did add to that challenge.”
Medaling for the boys varsity team was Daniel Tomlinson who placed third with his time of 18:48.8 and Jacob Perkins who placed 20th with his time of 21:27.8. Isabelle Martin placed seventh with her time of 24:40.9, and Kinley Luna came in 10th with a time of 25:36.9 to earn medals in the girls varsity race.
Coach Nold said the Dora R-3 School District has begun its first middle school cross country program. Braxtin Green medaled in the boys middle school team race and Kinsen Mitchell medaled in the girls middle school race.
This week, the middle school will be traveling to Alton on Wednesday and the varsity program will be traveling to Willard on Thursday.
The varsity team is working hard as they keep their eye on this year’s district meet. They will be running the Class 1 District 2 meet in Wheatland on Nov. 1 to cap off the season.
