Dora on course for great XC season

The Dora High School cross country teams are off to an excellent start in the 2026 season, with Coach Sheree Nold reporting that the team’s energy, motivation and team spirit are right where they need to be.
At the teams’ second meet of the season at Willow Springs, the Dora boys finished second in the Class 1-2 division, while the Lady Falcons captured the team championship.
Daniel Tomlinson led the Dora boys with a second-place finish, followed by Jacob Perkins in fourth and Zachary Green in 18th. Nold said the remainder of the boys team finished in a close pack, providing valuable points toward the team’s runner-up finish.
The Dora girls once again worked together to claim the top spot in their division. Haley Perkins finished second, Kinley Luna placed fifth and Isabelle Martin was sixth, with all three earning individual medals. Newcomers Kaitlyn Castle and Anna Claire Thornton joined teammate Alexis Anderson to round out the Lady Falcons’ lineup.
Several Dora middle school runners also competed in the opening meet of their MSHSAA middle school cross country season at Willow Springs. The course is considered one of the toughest on the schedule.
The Dora middle school girls finished fifth, with Kinsen Mitchell earning an individual medal.
With the season still in its early stages, Nold said the teams are continuing to build momentum and work together.
The Dora middle school team will compete at Alton Wednesday afternoon, while the high school teams will travel to Willard Thursday morning.
