Dora Falcons cross country runners racking up wins


The Dora girls cross country team took first place at the Alton Invitational meet held Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Tucker Creek Park in Alton. The Dora Falcons cross country team is off to a great start, said Dora head coach Sheree Nold. “The Alton meet was our third race of our nine races before districts,” she added. “Each of our teammates ran a personal best, a course best or a season best race at Alton. We have the privilege of running against some great competition in our southwest region.”

The girls varsity team took first place, and the boys varsity team took fourth place.

Dora freshman Isabella Martin took first place in the girls varsity race with a time of 21:56.20. Other Dora girls who medaled were junior Emma Martin, fourth, 22:25.90; freshman Kinley Luna, eighth, 23:25.30; freshman Haley Perkins, 11th place, 24:26.70; and junior Chloe Barton, 14th place, 24:53.90.

Dora junior Cade Nold, took second place in the boys varsity race with a time of 17:22.40, finishing behind Class 2 Alton’s Ryan Deckard who took first in 16:56.30. Cade’s brother Joshua Nold placed sixth in 18:17.30.

The Dora girls varsity nabbed an additional first place win when they ran at the inaugural Gainesville Bulldog Classic held Friday, Saturday, Sept. 15. Isabelle Martin had another impressive run, taking first with her time of 23:58.10, followed by Emma Martin, who took second in 24:40. Kinley Luna placed fourth in 25:23.66. Other Dora runners taking home medals were Kayden Jones, eighth, 27:00.67; Chloe Barton, 10th, 27:46.91; Haley Perkins, 11th, 27:49.13; and Shelby Causey, 17th, 30:48.16.

Dora’s Nold brothers, Cade and Joshua, led the varsity boys race, with Cade taking first in 19:48.19, and Joshua taking second in 20:44.80. Daniel Tomlinson took fourth in 21:15.96. The team took second place at the meet.

Dora’s cross country teams travel to Van Buren today, Sept. 20, for a meet with a 4:30 p.m. start time.
