Dora Falcons fell to Alton last week
The Dora Falcons traveled to Alton to take on the Comets Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The Comets came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring the Falcons 23-14, and the Dora boys were unable to catch up and wound up falling to Alton 81-51. “We just can’t seem to get over the hump,” said Coach Stetson Neldon. “It was a 10-point game in the third quarter, and then we dug another hole we couldn’t climb out of. We will keep working.”
Freshman Braxton Mayberry led the Falcons’ scoring efforts with 20 points, followed by senior Carson Howard with 11. Others scoring for Dora were Brady Thompson, Liam Grant and Taber Walker with 4 each, Skylar Roberts with 3 and Blake Uhlmann with 2.
Kayden Willard led Alton with 31 points.
The loss drops the Falcons’ season record to 2-10.
Dora’s JV lost 58-32, falling to 4-4 on the season. “There were bright spots in the game, we just didn’t put four quarters together,” said Coach Neldon. “They will bounce back and be OK.”
Brayden Decker led the JV in scoring with 11 points.
The Dora Falcons are competing in the Seymour Bank 2025 Winter Classic Tournament Jan. 13-18. They faced Aurora on Monday night.
