Dora Falcons medal at Harrison meet

The Dora High School track team started the season with a strong showing at the Harrison High School meet in Arkansas on Thursday, March 19, delivering multiple top finishes. “It was a great rust buster for the team,” said head coach Sheree Nold. “We are ready for Marshfield and Hollister this week.”
Leading the way for Dora was junior standout Daniel Tomlinson, who dominated the distance events. Tomlinson claimed first place in the 800-meter run, finishing ahead of a 25-runner field with a time of 2:09.38. He followed that performance with another first place finish in the 1600-meter run, topping 18 competitors in 4:47.1. Freshman Jacob Perkins also made his mark in the 1600, earning a medal with a seventh-place finish in 5:30.19.
In the hurdles, junior Clayton Collins added to Dora’s medal count by placing fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The relay teams also contributed key points. The Dora boys 4x200-meter relay team secured fifth place, while the 4x800-meter team delivered a second-place finish.
On the girls side, Dora showed depth and speed across multiple events. In the 200-meter dash finals, Kinley Luna led the charge with a fourth-place finish, followed closely by Montgomery Mitchell in fifth and Haley Perkins in sixth.
The trio continued their success in the 400-meter dash. Luna captured third place with a time of 1:06.14, while Mitchell finished just behind her in fourth at 1:08.19. Perkins added another medal with an eighth-place finish in 1:10.29.
Distance runner Isabelle Martin turned in some impressive performances of the day for the girls team. She placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:41.69 and followed that with a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run at 6:20.72.
Dora’s relay teams continued to shine, with the girls 4x200-meter relay placing third and the 4x800-meter relay team capturing first place.
In field events, Montgomery Mitchell earned a seventh-place medal in the triple jump, while Kylie Shipley delivered a strong performance in the shot put, finishing fourth.
The team will travel to Hollister High School on Thursday, March 26, followed by the Marshfield Invitational on Friday, March 27.
