Dora softball team wins season opener
The Dora Lady Falcons kicked off their season in dramatic fashion Saturday, March 21, holding off Licking for a 23-20 victory in a high-scoring showdown.
Kylie Shipley led the way, striking out eight batters while battling through a tough Licking lineup.
At the plate, Dora’s offense came alive with 21 total hits, fueled by a standout performance from Emily Robertson. Robertson drove in six runs on three hits, including a three-run home run to left field in the first inning that set the tone early.
Haley Perkins and Shipley each collected four hits, while Tamera Danahy added three. Ellie Ullom, Ashlyn Carter, and Jamie Hall contributed two hits apiece in the well-rounded offensive effort.
“The girls played hard and kept battling throughout the entire game,” said Coach Dylan Fox.
With the season-opening win, the Lady Falcons showed both resilience and firepower, outlasting Licking in a game that featured plenty of offense on both sides.
Dora traveled to Willow Springs Monday and hosted Fordland Tuesday. Results of those games were unavailable at presstime. They head to Bakersfield to play at the Lions’ new facilities Thursday, March 26. Games start at 4:30 p.m.
