Dora trap shooting team receives grant to assist with annual expenses

Dora FFA trap shooting members, pictured from left, Treyton Rogers, Kaleb Herring and Braxtin Wright, were some of the 15 Dora students who will benefit from a recent grant extended to the team from the MIdwayUSA Foundation.
That Dora FFA Trap Shooting Team recently received a cash grant from MidwayUSA Foundation to help the team pay for expenses involved with the sport, including ammo, targets, competition entry fees, travel and other needed items.
The grant funds, along with support provided from local partners and FFA fundraising initiatives allows the team to fully fund all practice and competition costs for the more than 15 Dora students that participate in trap shooting annually.
Growing the MidwayUSA Foundation endowment is crucial to the future of the local youth shooting team, the organization says. The endowment takes some of the burden off families that have youth interested in shooting sports and this funding is available forever. Every year the team is eligible to receive 5 percent of the endowment balance in the form of a cash grant. Those interested in supporting the local youth shooting team can make a tax-deductible donation to the team’s MidwayUSA Foundation endowment, which will be matched by MidwayUSA Foundation’s matching program. Every donation grows the annual cash grant.
Thanks to the generosity of Larry and Brenda Potterfield, the foundation removes nothing for operating expenses, allowing 100 percent of donations to benefit the team.
