Falcons set several PRs during district meet

The Dora High School track and field team had an impressive showing at the district meet, according to coach Sheree Nold.

The Falcons sent 11 athletes to the sectional meet  May 16 at South Callaway High School following a day highlighted by personal records, relay success and district championship performances.

Leading the way for Dora were district champions Haley Perkins in the javelin and Daniel Tomlinson in the 3200-meter run.

The Falcons also turned in several runner-up finishes at districts.

The boys 4x800-meter relay team of Josiah Ward, Zachary Green, Jacob Perkins and Tomlinson earned second place while setting a new personal record.

Dora’s girls 4x800 relay team — Kinley Luna, Montgomery Mitchell, Perkins and Isabelle Martin — also captured a runner-up finish.

Tomlinson added a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run, while Martin placed second in the 1600 with a new personal record. Luna also recorded a personal best while finishing second in the 800-meter run.

The girls 4x400 relay team of Luna, Mitchell, Perkins and Martin rounded out Dora’s runner-up performances.

Additional all-district honors went to Jacob Perkins, who finished third in the 3200-meter run, and Brynlee Walker, who placed fourth in the 3200. The boys 4x400 relay team of Ward, Green, Clayton Collins and Tomlinson also earned all-district recognition.

The Falcons competed Saturday, May 16 at the sectional meet at South Callaway High School in Mokane where several athletes earned the right to advance to the state championships, which will be held this Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City.
